Quite a task.
As you may know, we’re on our way to Canada, where our sailboat is waiting for us. We need to assess the shape she’s in and make her seaworthy again. Quite a task. However, our travels toward Canada have confirmed that we do indeed need a sailboat.
The first part of our journey was a train ride to Dublin Airport. While traveling on trains is quite nice, the sound of the rails is soothing, it could’ve been the sound of waves and wind if only we were sailing. Dublin Airport also has the disadvantage of being in Dublin. And while Dublin claims to be the capital of Ireland, we all know that Cork is. We wouldn’t have to visit Dublin if only we were sailing.
Next part of our journey.
The next part of our journey was a plane ride to Montreal. Unfortunately, the plane was delayed. So we had to wait at the airport for a few hours. And while there are also delays while sailing, like a lack of wind, for example, at least you are sailing.
The delay in Dublin made us miss the plane transfer in Montreal, so we were booked on the next flight, which added another thrilling few hours of waiting in an airport. During which time we could’ve been sailing.
The next plane took us to Charlottetown, where, on arrival, we discovered that they lost our luggage. Which, again, is not something that can’t happen under sail; things land in their watery graves quite often during sea journeys. But at least you’re sailing.
Do we want a sailboat?
After all that, we finally got to Souris via car, and, after all this time, we finally got to see our purchase in person. And we forgot about all those problems during the journey. It was all well worth it. However, the trip back will be under her sails. Because if we learned anything from all that, it’s that we don’t WANT a sailboat. We NEED one.
