Back to the Old World?

Inspection.

After an inspection of the state the sails are in, we have come to the conclusion that while it might be possible to construct a tipi tent or two out of them (and a leaky one at that), they are not in ocean-crossing shape.

Supply shop.

The requisition order has been placed at a local supply shop for a new set of sails. While we were waiting, we decided to see what shape the capstans were in. We need at least one for the journey, and at this point, not even one seems to be in working order.

The inspection of capstan revealed that, for some reason, one of them was siliconed shut. However, it was not completely shut, and therefore the water was gathering in the opening, corroding all of the inner mechanical parts. It looked really bad. Those are type twenty-eight capstans, and we really need at least one in working order for the trip back to the Old World. The second capstan was in better shape, but still nothing to write home about. In the end, using the parts cannibalized from the first one, we managed to assemble one working capstan. It’s the bare minimum for the trip, so we’re going to try to get the second one working.

Modern gray?

Later, we started grinding the hull for the new paintjob. We also ordered a new coating. Can you guess what color scheme we’re aiming for? Will it be classic white? Maybe modern gray? Or will we repaint her in the navy blue she’s wearing now?
